About Mazatlan and Us

With brilliant golden sunsets, abundant wildlife, and endearing local
culture, our Mexican home will provide you, our potential guests, with
experiences and memories to last a lifetime.  Our location in the
beautiful El Cid Country Club and Mega Resort allows you instant
access to
Zona Dorada, the "Golden Zone" of hotels, restaurants, and
shops you can explore on foot.  The Golden Zone is also the gateway to
Playa Sabado, miles and miles of pristine beaches where you can surf,
sail, boogie board, parasail, or simply soak up the sun and barter with
the local merchants.

Karen purchased our home, Casa de las Aves, "House of the Birds," at
813 Conde de Oviedo, in 1998.  Your hosts, Karen Church and Mark
Zima, were married in August of 2003, and Karen first introduced Mark
to the wonders of Mexico in the summer of 2005.  Karen is the golfer in
the family, Mark enjoys caddying and making sure the
cervezas stay
mui frija with plenty of sal and limons!  We are avid bird watchers and
bargain hunters, two of the endless activities you are sure to enjoy on
your stay.

We are school teachers by trade, Karen at the elementary level and
Mark at middle school, and we also coach cross country and track and
field together in Eugene, Oregon.  We look forward with great
anticipation to our retirement when we plan to make Mazatlan our
permanent home, open to family and friends, especially Karen's son Joel
and Mark's daughter Hope.  In the meantime, it is our great joy to share
our Mexican paradise with our guests.  As they say in Mexico,
"mi casa
es su casa, -
enjoy!"
